Chandigarh, December 3: The Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) is all set to achieve a significant milestone with the development of its first sub-depot at Village Daula in Gidderbaha for enhancing public transportation infrastructure.
The team will complete the project by January 31, 2025.
Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said on Tuesday that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is working to enhance transportation accessibility. He confirmed that the project will complete and become operational by January 31, 2025, with an estimated cost of Rs. 3.36 crore.
He said that this project will not only address the infrastructural needs but will also directly respond to the longstanding demands of the local people.
As a result, it will effectively fulfill both immediate and long-term community requirements, creating a lasting impact on the area.
Patiala old bus stand revitalized
Laljit Singh Bhullar announced the revitalization of the Old Bus Stand in Patiala, and now, bus services connect nearby towns within a 30-kilometer radius, including Cheeka, Samana, Nabha, Rajpura, Ghanaur, and Pehowa.
The Cabinet Minister stated that the Transport Department is not only expanding its fleet but also creating significant economic opportunities through the Kilometer (KM) Scheme. In addition, the state government is fulfilling its commitment to generating self-employment and empowering local entrepreneurs by introducing 85 new buses.Furthermore, the authorities have already issued Letters of Intent (LoIs) to 81 individuals, marking a key step towards achieving these goals.
PRTC finalizing a comprehensive solar plant installation project
In a progressive move towards sustainable infrastructure, PRTC is finalizing a comprehensive solar plant installation project, said the Transport Minister, adding that the ambitious plan includes setting up solar facilities at the Head Office, all depots and bus stands.
He added that the project, with a proposed 775 KW solar installation estimated at Rs. 2.87 crores, is expected to generate annual electricity cost savings of approximately Rs. 97 lakh and achieve a payback period of less than three years.
