CHANDIGARH, 24th April 2026: Bhagwant Singh Mann delivered a firm and uncompromising message to the BJP. He asserted that the BJP has shown unease ever since his government enacted strict laws against ‘beadbi’ (sacrilege) and continues to struggle to accept decisive action on an issue deeply tied to Punjab’s sentiments. . He stated that the BJP, which has repeatedly faced rejection in Punjab, has responded with hostility towards both the state and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), attempting to weaken a corruption-free government through intimidation, inducements, and efforts to engineer defections.

Condemning both those leaving the party and those facilitating such moves, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that the BJP’s lack of political ground has pushed it towards such tactics even as visible improvements in schools, hospitals, roads, and employment have unsettled it. He emphasised that the AAP draws its strength from ordinary people and remains rooted in a principled, transformative vision. He asserted that the people of Punjab will hold accountable those who betray the state, making it clear that such manoeuvres cannot secure political victories in a democracy where the people of Punjab remain supreme.

Bhagwant Singh Mann: Punjab Won’t Forgive Traitors

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh on Friday, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “The wise and brave people of Punjab will never forgive the traitors who have backstabbed them for their own vested interests. Punjabis have never forgotten acts of betrayal, and those who deceived them have vanished into political oblivion. People have erased leaders like Kamaalo, Mannshahian, and others from public memory because they betrayed their ideology. In a democracy, the party is supreme, not individuals who come and go as per their whims and fancies,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister pointed out that several leaders had secured positions without meaningful contribution but later chose to deceive their mother party for personal benefits.He said the real name of the BJP is “Kadde Sadde Party,” as it uses a “washing machine” to dry-clean tainted leaders from other parties. The BJP is poaching leaders but has no base in Punjab due to its anti-Punjab mindset,” he added.

Mann Accuses BJP of Blocking Punjab Development

Highlighting a systematic attempt to undermine Punjab, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The BJP is inimical to Punjab and has withheld the state’s share of funds under Rural Development Fund (RDF), National Health Mission (NHM) Fund and other schemes, jeopardising development. With no base here, it is trying to break our party using central agencies. Punjab and Punjabis will strongly oppose such tyrannical moves and will teach the traitors a lesson.

He further asserted that the BJP’s political strategy across the country has been to weaken regional forces. “The BJP only knows how to break other parties because it lacks credible leadership. They tried to break Mamata Banerjee’s party, divided Uddhav Thackeray’s party, and Sharad Pawar’s party met the same fate.He said similar manoeuvres have also targeted leaders like Naveen Patnaik, Dushyant Chautala, and Nitish Kumar.

Taking a jibe, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “A Rajya Sabha member who is now feeling suffocated in AAP due to personal interests had enjoyed the fruits of power in Kothi Number 50.”

The Chief Minister noted, “From day one, the BJP has been hell-bent on damaging AAP due to its pro-Punjab and pro-people stance. Operation Lotus was launched to buy our members. The BJP, which has no base in Punjab, has started its ‘washing machine’ here to give a clean chit to tainted leaders.”

Mann Govt Expands Schemes, Targets BJP

Listing achievements, Bhagwant Singh Mann said the BJP cannot accept that his government provided free electricity to 90% of homes, created 65,000 corruption-free jobs, improved roads, removed toll plazas saving ₹70 lakh daily, and upgraded infrastructure.

He added that 65 lakh families now receive health cards under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna for free treatment up to ₹10 lakh, with over 30 lakh already benefiting. Farmers also received more than eight hours of uninterrupted power during the paddy season.

He added that his government now provides daytime electricity for irrigation, transforming agricultural practices.

He said, “We utilise every penny of the state exchequer judiciously for people’s welfare. Under Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, we give ₹1000 per month to women of other categories and ₹1500 to SC category women above 18 years.”

Punjab Government has launched a major programme

Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government has launched a major programme to repair and upgrade 43,000 km of link roads across the state. He added that the government has passed the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to ensure stricter punishment for sacrilege.

Reiterating that the BJP is unsettled by Punjab’s progress, he said, “The BJP dislikes Punjab’s prosperity and is hatching deep-rooted conspiracies. Punjabis stand firmly with AAP, and these seven leaders do not represent the entire party. Their true face now stands exposed. Captain feels isolated in the BJP, and others like Sukhpal Khaira have faced the same fate.”

Highlighting the party’s ideological foundation, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “We built this party through sweat and sacrifice.”

He added, “Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and I left our careers to serve the people.” I challenge the BJP to try to buy, harass or intimidate me; neither the BJP nor its central agencies have the courage to do so,” he asserted.

“These leaders were given important positions to serve Punjab, but they compromised for their own chairs. Despite advances in science and technology, no machine can read what is in their minds. Punjabis chose them to represent their aspirations, but they betrayed the people for personal interests,” he added.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that the AAP has a national presence and is not confined to any region. “After this defection, the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will decide the future course, including disciplinary action. Our legislative party remains united and committed to Punjab’s progress,” he said.

BJP has always opposed Punjab

Concluding, he said, “The BJP must remember that its tactics will not succeed in Punjab. Punjabis will teach it a lesson for this treachery.”

Taking to X, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “The BJP has always opposed Punjab. Since we passed strict laws against beadbi, the BJP has shown clear unease and cannot tolerate them. After facing repeated defeats in Punjab, the BJP has continued to act against Punjab and the Aam Aadmi Party. We strongly condemn those who leave the party and those who support their induction.”
