RAJEEV VIHAR ARMY WELFARE HOUSING SOCIETY, MANIMAJRA, CELEBRATES SILVER JUBILEE
Chandigarh, Oct 3 : Rajeev Vihar Army Welfare Housing Society, Manimajra,
established in September 2000 to honour the service & sacrifices of Indian Army
personnel, celebrated its Silver Jubilee with a series of vibrant and solemn events.
The month-long celebrations featured sports competitions in Badminton, Basketball
Table tennis, Cycling & Walkathon with enthusiastic participation from residents of all
age groups, including veterans, senior citizens, youth, and children.
Swachhata Abhiyan, conducted in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in
September was concluded on 01 Oct under the aegis of Sh. Sanjay Arora, Chief
Engineer, MC Chandigarh.

The highlight of the Jubilee was a Wreath-laying ceremony in memory of 2 Lt Rajeev
Sandhu, Mahavir Chakra (Posthumous). He made the supreme sacrifice in Sri Lanka
during Operation Pawan in 1988. The ceremony was presided over by Manish
Tewari, Hon’ble MP, Chandigarh, with Councillor Smt. Sarbjeet Kaur as Guest of
Honour, alongside dignitaries including H.S. Lucky, PCC President, Chandigarh,
UT officials, and members of neighboring Societies.

The MP spoke on the occasion. They saluted the courage of the Armed Forces. The MP sanctioned the installation of 08 CCTV cameras from MPLAD funds for enhancing Society’s security.
Marking 25 years of its journey, Rajeev Vihar reaffirmed its commitment to unity. It remains resilient and embraces a patriotic spirit. The organization carries forward the legacy of the Indian Army’s ethos of service and sacrifice.
