Chandigarh, January 29: The Hon’ble Governor, Punjab, Administrator, UT Chandigarh and President of Punjab Red Cross Society, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria today launched the scheme “DOCTOR AAPKE DUAR under the aegis of Punjab Red Cross Society. In the first phase, the authorities flagged off four fully equipped Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) from Punjab Raj Bhawan.Each MMU is equipped with all required instruments and staffed with a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, and driver.
“MMUs Deployed in Patiala, Gurdaspur, Barnala, and Jalandhar to Provide Free Healthcare”
In the first phase, the districts of Patiala, Gurdaspur, Barnala, and Jalandhar, consequently, received these MMUs. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility, particularly in remote areas, by providing essential medical services directly to the communities. Furthermore, the deployment of these units ensures timely medical support and addresses the healthcare needs of underserved populations. This initiative aims to provide free Medical Services to the needy at their doorstep.
Mobile Medical Units : “Governor Dedicates MMUs to Punjab
The Governor dedicated these MMUs to the people of Punjab. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab Red Cross for starting this initiative in Punjab. He also praised the REC Foundation for their gesture in the cause of humanity. Their funding is crucial for this novel project for Punjab Red Cross. The Governor of Punjab said this will be hugely beneficial for the underprivileged sections of society. It will especially benefit pregnant women who suffer from various deficiencies during pregnancy and cannot come to health centres.
The Punjab State Red Cross Branch receives these MMUs under CSR funding. The Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) provides this funding. REC is a Maharatna Govt. of India Company.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor – K. Siva Prasad was also present. Principal Secretary to Governor – Vivek Pratap Singh, Secretary Punjab Red Cross Shivdular Singh Dhillon, and Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director, REC, were also in attendance.
