Chandigarh, December 8 – In a heartwarming effort to safeguard the health of the next generation, the Sub-National Immunization (SNID) round of Pulse Polio 2024-25 kicked off today in six Haryana districts: Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Mewat, Sonipat, and Kaithal. The initiative aims to maintain Haryana’s polio-free status by covering approximately 15 lakh children under five years of age.

At booths adorned with cheerful banners, local leaders, including MLAs and community representatives, inaugurated the campaign, encouraging parents to ensure their children receive the life-saving drops. As children eagerly lined up, health officials and volunteers offered reassurance to parents, highlighting the importance of immunization.

Around 26,000 dedicated workers, including health officials, Anganwadi workers, and ASHAs, manned 6,200 booths statewide. By the end of the day, nearly 60% of the target—9 lakh children—had received polio drops, a testament to the collaborative efforts of the administration, WHO monitors, and tireless volunteers.

Reaching Every Child: A Mission to Protect Vulnerable Lives from Pulse Polio”

To ensure no child is left behind, house-to-house teams will visit high-risk areas such as slums, brick kilns, and construction sites over the next two days. “It’s vital we protect our children, especially those in vulnerable communities,” said a campaign spokesperson.

India and Haryana have been polio-free since 2012, and every Pulse Polio round reinforces this achievement. The spokesperson emphasized the need for community participation, urging parents to join hands in this critical mission to sustain a future free from polio.
