"Tell the Storms to Stay Within Limits": Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Slams BJP After ED Raids AAP MP Ashok Mittal
Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Jalandhar Zonal Office, has arrested
Abhishek Kumar, who was found to be involved in generation and acquisition of
Proceeds of Crime through illegal sale of psychotropic tablets such as Tramadol and
Alprazolam, on 09.12.2025 under the provisions of the Prevention of Money
Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002. He was produced before the Hon’ble Special Court
(PMLA), 2002, SAS Nagar, and the Special Court has granted six days ED custody of
the accused.
ED initiated investigation based on an FIR registered by Punjab Police under various sections of the NDPS Act 1985. This related to the large-scale inter-state trafficking of psychotropic tablets and capsules. The drugs in question included Tramadol and Alprazolam. Thereafter,
officials conducted search actions at 16 premises linked with Abhishek Kumar. These actions also targeted other entities and resulted in the seizure of various incriminating records.
ED investigation revealed that middle men, like wholesalers and retailers, procured large quantities of psychotropic tablets. Pharmaceutical firms and manufacturing companies such as M/s Biogenetic Drugs Pvt. Ltd., M/s CB Healthcare, M/s Smilax Pharmachem Drug Industries, M/s Aster Pharma, and M/s Soul Health Care (I) Pvt. Ltd. supplied these products.They were diverting it for sale in the black market at a higher cost than
the retail price. Drug peddlers facilitated these sales, thereby generating huge Proceeds of Crime
(POC).
Abhishek Kumar through his firm, M/s Shree Shyam Medical Agency, procured
bulk quantities of these psychotropic tablets from wholesalers/manufacturers. He illegally diverted approximately 75% of the stock out of books.
They concealed these illicit transactions. The corresponding boxes appeared as legal sales by inflating the number of boxes in the legal bills. This action generated POC to the tune of Rs. 3.75 Crore in cash.
