Mann Government’s Greening Punjab Mission: 12.57 Lakh Trees Planted, State Achieves Biggest Environmental Milestone
Chandigarh, May 1: In a bold move to counter the Centre’s draconian attempt to seize Punjab’s waters by misusing the BBMB, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has called an all-party meeting at 10 AM on Friday in Punjab Bhawan. He has invited all prominent political parties in the state to unite against this injustice.
During the All-Party Meeting, issues will be deliberated upon. These include the usurping of rights of the state by the Union government. This issue arises through the unfair allocation of water to Haryana by BBMB. The meeting will reflect the unity of all the political parties of the state over the sensitive issue. The Chief Minister unequivocally said that Punjabis have the right over every drop of river water. No one can snatch it.
In this regard only the Punjab government has decided to convene a special session of the state Vidhan Sabha on Monday i.e. May 5. The state government will bring a special resolution on the water issue in this special session of the Vidhan Sabha. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister urged all the parties to unite. He called on them to fight for safeguarding the interests of Punjab and Punjabis.
The Chief Minister said that it is high time. All the political parties should rise above parochial considerations. They must fight this war vehemently. He reiterated that the state government will not compromise over this issue. The interests of the state on the river waters will be safeguarded by all means. Bhagwant Singh Mann sought comprehensive support from all the political parties. He asked for cooperation in this war against the repressive, undemocratic, and unfair move of the Union government.
