FIVE MEMBERS OF SMUGGLING MODULE HELD WITH FOUR GLOCK PISTOLS, 2KG HERION
CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, October 17: The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar made a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing special checking and operations. They ensured a safe and peaceful festive season. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann directed this action. In coordination with a central agency, they arrested five members of a smuggling network linked to foreign handlers. They also recovered four 9MM caliber Glock pistols with ammunition. Additionally, they seized 2 kg of heroin from their possession. This information was provided by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.
The individuals arrested have been identified. The first is Shivam Arora of New Jaspal Nagar, Sultanwind Road, Amritsar. The second is Gurpreet Singh of New Kapoor Nagar, Amritsar. The third is Anmoldeep Singh of Sultanwind Road, Amritsar. Finally, there is Abhishekh Singh of village Dhand in Tarn Taran. Another individual is Kulmit Singh of Colony Ganga Nagar village Dhand, Tarn Taran.
Five Arrested in Major Amritsar Narcotics and Arms Seizure
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were acting under a Dubai-based smuggler in touch with Pakistani associates. The seized consignment originates from Pakistan, he said.
The DGP said that efforts are underway to nab the remaining members and dismantle the entire network.
Sharing operational details, AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann said that reliable inputs indicated the suspects’ involvement in smuggling activities. Police teams, in a joint operation with central agency teams, launched an intelligence-led operation. They arrested five accused persons.Police recovered a consignment of narcotics and sophisticated weapons, which the suspects intended to deliver to criminals.
The AIG said that further investigations are underway. They aim to establish forward and backward linkages in this case. This will help unearth the entire network.He said the police will produce the accused in court in due course.
Police registered FIR No. 61 dated 16.10.2025 in this regard. It falls under sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act, section 25 of the Arms Act, and section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This was done at Police Station SSOC Amritsar.
