What started as a simple accusation for a bribe of Rs 800,000 turned into a massive operation that uncovered a hidden empire of gold, gold and luxury allegedly built on corruption, leading to a dramatic arrest in his office.
In a dramatic operation that shocked the state police, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Punjab Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harcharan Singh Bhullar on charges of bribery and corruption. In a major action, the CBI arrested a Punjab Police officer for bribery. The investigating team was shocked during a house search. They found millions of rupees. This discovery forced them to use a currency-counting machine.
The case then took a surprising turn as authorities recovered about 100 million rupees. In addition to 5 billion yen in cash, there was gold jewelry and a luxury car from his home. The investigation began on October 11 following a complaint from a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh. The complainant alleged that the DIG official demanded a bribe of Rs 100 million. The official issue brought him a profit of 800,000 yen. The CBI acted quickly after receiving a tip-off and laid an elaborate trap. The investigation first led them to an intermediary acting on behalf of a senior officer. In a carefully orchestrated operation, the CBI caught the bribe-paying middlemen red-handed.

Armed with this evidence, the CBI team raided the Mohali administrative complex and arrested the DIG at his station.DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar made a move that shocked his colleagues. He is the 2009 IPS officer currently in charge of Ropar Range. CBI officers entered his office and placed him under arrest.
Things took a turn for the worse when the CBI obtained a search warrant at the police officer’s home. It was here that the scale of the corruption allegations became clear. The raid revealed an astonishing amount of Rs. 5 Crore in cash, tons of gold jewelry and luxury cars. The Punjab government, which has given the necessary approvals for the CBI to prosecute senior IPS officers, has reiterated its “zero tolerance” policy against corruption.
