However, his desire to achieve greatness led him to hold the highest position in the country. This scientist was Bharat’s ‘Missile Man’ Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who turned his dream into reality and became a medium of inspiration for everyone.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Journey from Struggles to Science
Abdul Kalam was born in Rameswaram, Tamilnadu. His family’s financial condition was not good. However, Abdul Kalam had the passion to do something in life. He knew that education is the only medium through which he can achieve a different position.He took a deep interest in science, which helped him become one of India’s greatest scientists.
Kalam worked in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He played a key role in making major missiles. These included the Prithvi Missile and the Agni Missile made under his supervision. He launched India’s first satellite, after which he got the title of Missile Man.
From Scientist to People’s President
Dr. Kalam’s hard work took him to Rashtrapati Bhavan in 2002. He became the 11th President of India. Even after reaching this position, he used to live a simple life. He was a saintly person. When any delegation used to come to meet him, he used to pay for their tea from his own pocket. He loved children a lot and always used to inspire the youth. He used to say that young mind is the biggest asset of our country. Dr. Kalam used to say that dream and move ahead in life and do not look back.

HE is a great guide for the youth of our country, who inspires them to move ahead. Simplicity was his nature. Even after becoming Rashtrapati, he lived a simple life. He was a great person. He is an example for the youth. No matter what the condition is, education and hard work can take you to the highest position.
He was the first scientist who reached this position. Kalam tenure is remembered as a “People’s President”. He always kept the doors of Rashtrapati Bhawan open for students and youth. He believed that the future of the country is in the hands of the youth.
