Punjab Government Strengthens Women’s Health Security with ₹28 Crore Free Sanitary Pad Initiative: Dr. Baljit Kaur
Chandigarh, January 18: The Punjab Government has released ₹30.35 crores for 5,951 beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes under the Ashirwad Scheme during the current financial year 2024-25.
Funds Sanctioned for SC Beneficiaries Across Punjab Districts”
Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur sanctioned the amount for the Ashirwad for Scheduled Caste Scheme to address pending beneficiary applications for 2023-24 and 2024-25.
The Ashirwad Portal received these applications. It covered beneficiaries from the districts of Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, and Ferozepur.It also included beneficiaries from Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, and Hoshiarpur. Furthermore, it extended to those in Jalandhar, Mansa, and Sri Muktsar Sahib. In addition, the coverage expanded to include the districts of Patiala, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, SBS Nagar, Sangrur, and Malerkotla.
Minister Reports Financial Aid to Thousands Across Punjab”
The Minister of Social Justice stated that they have provided financial benefits to several beneficiaries.There are 136 beneficiaries in Barnala, 455 in Bathinda, and 187 in Faridkot. In addition, there are 1230 beneficiaries in Ferozepur. There are 192 in Fatehgarh Sahib. There are 347 in Fazilka. and are 189 in Hoshiarpur. Lastly, there are 1263 beneficiaries in Jalandhar. Similarly, 271 of Mansa, 90 of Sri Muktsar Sahib, 530 of Patiala, 199 of Rupnagar, S.A.S. 218 of Nagar, S.B.S. The government has provided financial benefits to 166 beneficiaries in Nagar, 408 in Sangrur, and 70 in Malerkotla.
“Punjab’s Ashirwad Scheme: ₹51,000 Aid for Daughters’ Marriage”
The Ashirwad Scheme provides financial assistance of ₹51,000 for the marriage of daughters from low-income families. The scheme is for permanent residents of Punjab. They must belong to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, or economically weaker families. Their annual income must be below ₹32,790. Each eligible family can benefit for up to two daughters.
The minister also emphasized that the financial aid is directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Government is making continuous efforts for the welfare of Scheduled Castes. It is also focusing on Backward Classes and economically weaker sections. She reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s dedication to improving the living standards and economic stability of every section of society.
