Higher Education: On the path of fast growth with career orientation program
Chandigarh, January 2 : The Punjab Higher Education Department has launched several initiatives to promote higher education in the state. This is under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. These schemes aim to provide students with career-oriented courses, employment and self-employment opportunities.
Highlighting the major initiatives, Higher Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that the government has allocated a budget of Rs. 3.25 crore for the Vocational and Skill Orientation Program to enhance the employability of government college students.
Exposure Scheme has budget allocation of Rs. 2 crore
The Minister stated that the Scheme of Career and Counseling in Govt Colleges provides career guidance. It also offers counseling to students in government colleges. It has a budget provision of Rs. 3.25 crore.
The Cabinet Minister further said that Industrial Visit and Exposure Scheme has budget allocation of Rs. 2 crore and aims to prepare students for future employment by exposing them to various industries. An amount of Rs. 33.44 lacs has already been released under this scheme.
Higher Education ; Budget Allocations for RGNUL and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chair
Bains added that the government allocated a budget of Rs. 8.52 crore for the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, and released Rs. 5 crore. He stated that Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) established the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chair in the financial year 2023-24. A budget provision of Rs. 1 crore was allocated.

The Higher Education Minister said that these initiatives demonstrate the Punjab government’s commitment to enhancing higher education in the state. The government aims to empower the youth by providing students with access to career-oriented courses. It also seeks to drive economic growth by creating employment opportunities.
