Chandigarh, December 9 – In a significant step towards addressing the grievances of education department employees, Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains met with four employee unions on Monday to discuss their long-standing demands, including regularization of services.

The ministers reassured the unions of their commitment to resolving legitimate concerns. A committee comprising officials from the Education, Personnel, and Finance Departments will examine the demands raised by three organizations: AIE Kachhe Adhiyapak Union, IERT Vishesh Adhiyapak Union, and Sarva (Samagra) Shiksha Abhiyan/Mid Day Meal Daftri Karmchari Union.

“We are committed to finding amicable solutions to the concerns of our educators and support staff,” said Finance Minister Cheema. He assured union representatives that the committee would deliver a report promptly, considering their requests sympathetically.
In a gesture of support, the Finance Minister also urged officials to examine the legitimate concerns of Computer Teachers under the PICTES program. The unions expressed confidence that the discussions marked a meaningful step toward resolving their issues.
Union representatives, including Tejinder Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Ramesh Kumar, and others, thanked the ministers for their proactive engagement, fostering hope for a brighter and more stable future for Punjab’s education workforce.
