Chandigarh, October 28: : The Punjab Government under the visionary guidance of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is sparing no effort to ensure a smooth and hassle free paddy procurement season 2024-25. The State has implemented an effective procurement, lifting, and payment mechanism in all mandis to protect the interests of farmers, arhtiyas, millers, and laborers.

Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak reported that the state’s mandis received 59,79,723.94 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy, with 54,98,389.72 MT already procured. During a VC with DFSCs, District Managers, and senior department officers, he noted that Punjab is progressing rapidly toward the procurement target.
Additionally, the lifting has gained momentum, with a total of 23,30,117.58 MT of paddy lifted so far and a record 4.13 LMT lifted in a single day on October 27th.
LMT Paddy :They have credited Rs. 7640.55 crore.
With regard to the payments issue, Kataruchak announced that the government has credited Rs. 7,640.55 crore into farmers’ accounts to ensure they can celebrate Diwali grandly at home.
Directing the DFSCs to further press the accelerator in terms of procurement and lifting, the Minister said that he is fully confident that with the collective efforts of all, the procurement season would turn out to be a very successful one.
