CHANDIGARH/SAS NAGAR, October 11: In a major breakthrough against organised crime, the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and SAS Nagar Police conducted a joint operation that busted a module operated by foreign-based gangsters Pavitar in the USA and Manjinder in France. They arrested their key operative, Navjot Singh alias Jota, along with three illegal weapon suppliers from Rajasthan, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.
Arrested: Jota’s Mission Against Rival Gangster
Authorities have identified three arrested weapon suppliers as Mohammad Asif, Bhanu Sisodia, and Anil Kumar, all residents of district Balotra in Rajasthan.
The three arrested Rajasthan-based weapon suppliers, who notably have a criminal history, are linked to various offenses. Meanwhile, the accused, Navjot, alias Jota, stands out with an alarming record, as he has 21 cases of heinous crimes registered against him.
These cases pertain to serious charges, including attempts to murder, robbery, snatching, as well as violations related to the NDPS and Arms Act.

Gangsters :THREE WEAPON SUPPLIERS HELD WITH TWO PISTOLS
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that authorities recovered a consignment containing two pistols, including one sophisticated automatic .32 caliber pistol, along with eight live cartridges from the suspects’ possession. He added that they were supposed to deliver the consignment to Navjot Jota.
He said that preliminary investigations revealed that his foreign-based handlers tasked Navjot Singh, alias Jota, with eliminating a recently bailed-out rival gangster and a travel agent.. Further investigations are on to establish backward and forward linkages in these cases, said the DGP.
Rajasthan-based arms trafficking gang were entering Punjab
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar Deepak Pareek shared operation details, stating that they received information about members of a Rajasthan-based arms trafficking gang entering Punjab to deliver a consignment to their associates in the state.

Acting on the input, subsequently, joint teams from AGTF Punjab and SAS Nagar Police collaborated to plan an operation. They then laid a special naka near the Focal Point on the Dera Bassi-Mubarakpur road. As a result, they successfully arrested four accused individuals and seized a consignment containing weapons. Notably, gangster Navjot, alias Jota, arrived to receive the consignment.
The SSP further stated that investigators are continuing their work and anticipate more arrests in the coming days.
In addition, the Police Station Dera Bassi registered FIR no. 313 under sections 25(6) and 25(7) of the Arms Act.
