FEROZEPUR TRIPLE MURDER CASE: PUNJAB POLICE IN JOINT OPS WITH CENTRAL AGENCIES AND MAHARASHTRA POLICE ARREST SIX ASSAILANTS FROM AURANGABAD
CHANDIGARH/FEROZEPUR, September 7: Amidst the ongoing drive to destroy the organised criminal networks in the state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police, in joint operation with central agencies and Maharashtra Police, have solved the sensational Ferozepur Triple Murder case with the arrest of six shooters from Aurangabad, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Saturday.
Criminal Histories Revealed in Murder Case
Authorities have identified those arrested as Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopy Baba, from Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran; Prince from the village of Kunde in Ferozepur; Ravinder Singh, also known as Ravi or Sukhu; Sukhchain Singh; Akshay, also known as Bagicha; and Rajbeer Singh, also known as Daler Singh, all residents of Basti Bagh Wali in Ferozepur.
The arrested accused all have a criminal history, including cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery, and violations under the NDPS Act and Arms Act. Furthermore, authorities have officially declared Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopy Baba, a proclaimed offender in two separate cases. Moreover, they are actively continuing their investigation into his involvement in additional criminal activities. In addition to these efforts, law enforcement is closely monitoring any emerging leads related to his network.
Triple Murder Case: FIR registered
Based on the information, six assailants on two motorcycles shot and killed three people, including a young girl, in broad daylight near a Gurudwara in Ferozepur on Tuesday. The police registered FIR No. 344 dated 03.09.2024 under sections 103, 109, 351(2), 191(3), 190, and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25(6) and 25(7) of the Arms Act at Police Station City Ferozepur.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that acting on human-intel inputs and connecting the dots, AGTF Punjab headed by ADGP Promod Ban, Police teams under the supervision of AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and AIG Sandeep Goel launched a special operation spread over states of Punjab, UT Chandigarh, Delhi and Maharashtra, have arrested six accused persons from Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thakre Express Highway. DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar led the operation, with support from DSP Rajan Parminder Singh and the QRT Aurangabad Police team.
six shooters are close associates of mastermind Ashish Chopra
He said that preliminary investigation has revealed all the arrested six shooters are close associates of mastermind Ashish Chopra, who is a fugitive and hiding abroad on a fake passport. The probe revealed that the incident is fallout of inter gang rivalry between two groups, he added.
The DGP said that further investigations are on to establish forward and backward linkages in this case. He added that authorities expect to make more arrests soon.
