Assam Government felicitates Punjab Governor

Chandigarh, September 3: In a distinguished ceremony held at the Punjab Raj Bhavan, the Government of Assam formally felicitated Gulab Chand Kataria, the Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh, in recognition of his outstanding services and exemplary commitment towards the welfare and prosperity of people of Assam.

Two Cabinet Ministers of Assam came to Punjab specially

Two Cabinet Ministers of Assam led by Ranjit Kumar Das and Chandra Mohan Patwari came to Punjab specially to felicitate Gulab Chand Kataria on the directions of Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma. They were accompanied by officials of Governor Secretariat Assam and the office of Chief Minister of Assam. Today, in a special felicitation ceremony, the delegation from Assam presented a copy of the resolution passed by the Assam Cabinet on 9th August, 2024 to Gulab Chand Kataria for his remarkable role, in recognition of his valuable advice and strategic guidance provided to the state government functionaries at every level.

Delegation also handed over a DO letter written by the CM Assam

The visiting delegation also handed over a DO letter written by the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma who personally thanked Shri Kataria for the invaluable guidance and wise counsel, which provided him with deep insights into governance and public life.

The resolution highlighted Shri Kataria’s extensive travels across all 35 districts of Assam, showcasing his proactive engagement with district administrations and various departments. His dedication to the welfare of the people of Assam was evident in his deep affection for the state and his tireless efforts to inspire and motivate all to contribute towards Assam’s development. The Cabinet also recognized Shri Kataria’s vast experience and wisdom in public affairs, which provided crucial insights into governance and public life. Furthermore, the Assam delegation took the opportunity to felicitate Shri Kataria and his wife, Anita Kataria, presenting them with a Citation of Kamakhya temple painting, Xorai, and other traditional items of Assam in recognition of his significant contributions to the state.

Kataria expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honor

Moreover, during the thanksgiving speech, Kataria expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honor and extended his appreciation to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the unwavering cooperation he received throughout his tenure.He emphasized the importance of harmonious collaboration between the Governor and the Chief Minister, stating that such unity is essential for the development and prosperity of any state. He hoped to work with the same cordial strategy in Punjab, to work closely with the Chief Minister to ensure that public welfare initiatives are effectively executed and genuinely improve the lives of the people.

Shri Kataria emphasized that for public welfare schemes to be truly effective, it is crucial to move beyond planning and policy-making at the administrative level and engage directly with the ground realities. He highlighted that only by visiting the field, interacting with the beneficiaries, and witnessing the implementation firsthand can one truly assess the success of these schemes.

In their insightful address, Assam Cabinet Ministers Ranjit Kumar Dass and Chandra Mohan Patowary emphasized the significance of cultural exchange programs as a powerful tool for fostering national integrity. They highlighted how such initiatives not only enable the sharing of diverse traditions, languages, and practices but also allow us to celebrate our rich cultural tapestry. Furthermore, these initiatives play a crucial role in forging stronger bonds across different communities.

Kataria honored several distinguished guests

In addition, on the occasion, the Punjab Governor & UT Administrator Kataria honored several distinguished guests. He recognized both the Cabinet Ministers of Assam, Mrs. Anju Rani Baishya, and Secretary to Governor Assam S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram. Additionally, he acknowledged ADC to Governor Assam Sq. Leader Gaurav Malik and Deputy Secretary CM Office Assam Abhishek Jain.

Prominent present on the occasion were Mr. K. Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Punjab, Mr. Rajeev Verma, Adviser to Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr. Surendra Singh Yadav, DGP Chandigarh, Sh. Vinay Pratap, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh and other senior police and civil officials of Chandigarh Administration.
