PUNJAB GOVERNMENT EXPEDITES GST REFUNDS, SANCTIONS RS 241.17 CRORE IN JULY: HARPAL SINGH CHEEMA
Chandigarh, August 17 Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise, and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema announced the remarkable success of the “Bill Liao Inam Pao” scheme, which has seen widespread public participation and enthusiasm. He reported on Saturday that users uploaded 97,443 bills on the Mera Bill app, leading to 2,601 winners receiving prizes worth Rs 1,51,62,335.
In a press communique, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema revealed that the scheme has also significantly increased tax compliance, with penalties totaling Rs 7,92,72,741 imposed on those guilty of irregularities in bill issuance. He added that they have already recovered Rs 6,16,98,869 in penalties.
The Finance Minister added that they have already distributed prizes worth Rs 1,10,22,885 to 1,892 winners. He mentioned that they are soon completing the process of awarding prizes worth Rs 41,39,450 to the remaining 709 winners.
The Finance Minister also stated that they launched the “Bill Liao Inam Pao” scheme to promote tax awareness and encourage people to demand receipts for their purchases.The scheme’s success is a testament to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government’s efforts to create a culture of transparency and accountability in taxation, he added.
Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The response to the ‘Bill Liao Inam Pao’ scheme has thrilled us.”He added, “We will continue to innovate and implement initiatives that benefit the people of Punjab and promote a culture of tax compliance.”
